This year, teacher appreciation week = teacher solidarity week!
Because of the lack of progress in bargaining, our union is increasing the pressure. Especially as we near the end of the school year and educators decide whether or not they should stay, we need to feel that we are valued by our employers... not just in words but in ACTION!
Action 1: Teacher appreciation rallies at each campus!
Taking place before or after the school day, these events at each of our villages are a visible way to to show solidarity as well as appreciation. Show up, wear BLUE and be prepared to shower our educators with love and support!
Purpose: Staff at each site invite parents and community members to attend the rallies as a sign of solidarity and support , and a way to raise awareness for families who might not be aware of our union or what we are bargaining for.

Action 2: Show up at the May 4 Board Meeting
Come join us at the High Tech High board meeting on Wednesday, May 4, at 5:00 pm. (Agenda and Zoom Link) Email [email protected] to get on the list of speakers!
Purpose: Make the CMO aware that their inaction at the bargaining table has consequences as teachers consider options for employment going into the 2022-2023 school year.

- Educators: Speak up about what is important to you! Take part in a symbolic union action by speaking at the board meeting to request a letter of recommendation from Gary Jacobs, Kaleb Rashad, and Janie Griswold. Whether or not bargaining delays are making you consider leaving, sign up to speak up about what is important to you as a unit member and how delays in a contract have impacted you and your students. Help administration understand that their delays are impacting humans, not just numbers.
- Families, students, and community members: Speak up in support of educators! Why are High Standards for High Tech important for you and your family?
- Show up wearing blue... or just "wearing" this Zoom background!
Bonus Action: Advocate for School Funding!
In budget meetings at schools and in communications from administration, you may have heard about how charter funding is a little different than public school funding when it comes to absences.
Purpose: Make sure all schools (including ours!) are not penalized for the impact of attendance during the pandemic!
